So if homework is necessary, how does one do homework?

People say that practice makes a man perfect and, though a heckneyed phrase, I am in complete accord with it. Homework is necessary to understand the complexities of subjects. It helps the learning of students who otherwise tend to put off studies. By homework students complety understand what they studied for a longer period of time.

But surely all this homework is necessary and important?

Both parents and educators agree some homework is necessary.

So the answer of the title is: Yes. Homework is necessary.

I think that homework is necessary in some situations (such as Algebra). Usually, however, it is not. Students should study on their own time, and written homework should be unnecessary. I personally feel like I spend more time working over weekends than on school days thanks to weekend homework. The worst, though, is when I rush to get a project done in time, and then the teacher gets it back in, say, a few months. I think this is completely unfair. If I do (hmm… I’ll see if that worked…) homework in time and work hard, why shouldn’t they?! Homework is fine, so long as it is actually beneficial, it isn’t over a break, it isn’t an exact echo of what we did in class, it is clear that homework has been assigned, and it is returned in a reasonable amount of time.

Homework Is Necessary. - For & Against

Todd, you have a great point about a student’s attitude affecting their test scores. As far as elementary school and middle school go, homework could very well be an option. However, at the High School level I think that homework is a necessary evil in order to help prepare the students for college. My homework and time management skills were severly lacking when I entered college and my first semester grades reflected that. In an environment when almost all work is done outside of lectures and class (including reading and research), there has to be a point at which homework is expected before entering the college setting.

I think homework is necessary, but only a certain amount of it. I'm guessing around 16 mins. 2 times in a week, we should get NO homework.
Homework is very necessary. It is a good tool used in school that improves students' understanding of what they learned in class. Homework is practice and practice makes perfect. Homework allows students to do work on their own without in class guidance and figure things out. This helps them learn better.Robert Becker, chemistry teacher, disagrees, saying homework can help students master concepts and stretch them to learn more than they would in class. He likes how he can use homework not only to review, but also to introduce material. According to Becker, homework is necessary in order to cover everything he wants to teach. Many teachers assign homework to students every day. and there is little reason to believe that homework is necessary in high school.

Do you think that daily homework is necessary for students

In middle school I switched over from private to public school. I was used to staying up till 11:00 trying to finish that last problem or paper. The public school that I went to did not believe in homework so I thought it would be a nice break. However, my grades started dipping because of the lack of practicing the concepts that we were learning in class. Because of that I realized that a contained amount oh homework is necessary for you to really understand the concepts that are being taught.

Homework should be required in every school. it is obvious that after the summer, when kids come back to school, they barely retained anything from the year before. I feel if you give homework, a child has to go home and review what they have learned in order to answer questions. This helps them keep the mind sharp. Most classes barely have enough time to review what has been learned, so homework is necessary in retention and good study habits.

to believe that homework is a necessary part of a child s development

To be honest I believe homework is necessary in some classes. In a math class it is used for sharpened what you had learned in class. It is VERY nice practice for the test. In an ap class it is super helpful.
