Parsons Challenge: “The Forgotten Boy”/ “The Forgotten Soldier”

In case anyone's asking what the criteria is, here is the statement(taken from the Parsons Challenge Page: Where do you live? What are your everyday activities? Where do you go? What have you overlooked? Discover something new within your familiar surroundings and daily life; this might be an object, event, activity, or location.

Parsons challenge 3: “Dream Girl”/ “Kani Believes in Make-Believe”

I am stumped on the parsons challenge! Do you have any advice?

Here’s my full parsons challenge, essays and all!

Well good luck! Just looking around online, there is a ton of variety on how people interpreted the Challenge directions, which is good, but also frustrating if you’re like me and like to have concrete directions for stuff like this. I say go for it with gusto. The worse they can say is no, and even so, you grow a lot as an artist just going through the process of completing the Parsons Challenge and putting a portfolio together.

Parsons Challenge: My Daily Life Through Colors
Parsons Challenge 2: It has been said that you are what you wear. This piece is a reflection on that thought because I strongly believe that a person’s attire can give an insight into their character. For many the bag holds an integral position in their lives. A bag is meant to store and safeguard ones valuables. In the drawing I have tried to show the importance of the bag in my life by showing various items. The bag, in this drawing represents me. The cloud above the bag shows my thoughts and ideas that are constantly flowing in and out from the moment I am awake. Thoughts are often diverse and sometimes they may seem random thus the drawings of the balloons, roses, butterfly and the headphones. The basic concept behind this piece is to show how after a point we are often identified by what we wear. I have used pen and ink to compose this drawing to contrast the sharpness of the pen with the soft background. Heyy! thats gr8! I am applying to parsons this spring…but currently i am jst really really apprehensive about this entire thing of making it to parsons…i was just editting my parsons challenge when i came across your work…and it is really good!

Parsons Challenge Tips From the Admission Office at Parsons The New School for Design

Parsons Challenge 1: “First Impression”/”South Bronx Revival”

So in the spirit of YAYOMGPARSONS, here’s my Parsons Challenge. I found the incredibly vague instructions very frustrating, and had to change my plans a few times as I hunted down more information online and found some clarifying remarks by people from the admissions offices in various FAQs and forums. It was also frustrating to look at the few examples people had posted online and, for the most part, not know if they got accepted or not. So if you’re reading this and found this post by looking for information on the Parsons Challenge, good luck and I hope this helps.

Parsons Challenge - The New School

Parsons Challenge 1: As human beings we do many things unconsciously, which then become a regular practice for us. Small things are taken for granted and other than a subconscious acknowledgment of their existence/presence these things are overlooked. I realized that everyday when I leave home for school or otherwise I carry a bag. Most often than not it has a few things in it like a wallet, books, my ipod and my cell phone. However, carrying a bag became somewhat of a habit for me, after a point of time I realized that I had started carrying a bag even when it was unnecessary (it was almost empty once or twice). I realized that my bags had become of a part of me. It had become an extension of who I am! So I wanted this piece to be a simple study of my bags. I’ve picked a few and done quick sketches in charcoal.
